87 stepside on a 60 F100?

The box dimensions for the 87 stepside bed are very close to the dimensions of the styleside I have on there now.

I know the mounting points changed after 73 but are there any significant issues with mounting this bed on my 60? I would want to swap out the boxy wheel hubs for the older style eventually but I can get the bed cheap and there are absolutely no pre 73 step side beds around here that do not have terminal cases of rust.

Anyone else done a similar swap? If it is just a matter of making my own mount points I can do that easily enough.

Sounds like you've done enough home work to start this process. I'd like to follow along because the flareside bed on my '59 is not worth the scrap metal in it. One thing you will need is a buncha friends. And some beer to keep 'em 'refreshed'.

Actually, swinging a bed is a one man job using a common engine hoist and 2 ratchet straps run corner to corner across the bed. It works well on both my Chevy and Ranger, so I'd expect it to work on the F100 too.

Hardest part is the unbolting of the bed. That may require a torch or plasma cutter if the rust is bad enough
