how do performance chips work??
Well I have done some research on the subject of installing a performance chip in my 95 7.3. Well I was wondering how do the chips work, I am under the impression that you have to tune and calibrate the chips on your P.C. To be honest it sounds like a lot of fine tuning but, the way the web sites word it is very confusing. So can someone explain what all you have to do with the chip to be ready to install it Thanks.

Unless you are doing you own tuning, there's really nothing to it. When you buy a chip, you'll give your truck info to the person who is writing tunes to your chip, and they'll burn the appropriate tunes to match your PCM. Takes all the guess work out of it.

pocket has it exactly right you give all the info on your truck like any mods you have done, tranny type, pcm code. heres a link to the PHP 6 positoin chip im getting. it asks you everything hope it helps look through it all. and usaully its just plugging it in and go time.
