So I have a Ford bronco 302 1993 and I want to purchase a performance chip on Friday but only jet has the chips available for this engine what other companies make good reliable chips that will boost HP and torque if anyone knows a good company that makes a good reliable performance chip for my year make and model truck also if you have chipped your truck tell me of your experience and who makes your chip
your wasting your money. those chips will do little to wake up your bronco.
is your motor stock?
get headers, bassani or custom y pipe, hi flow cat converter and muffler of your choice.
run copper plugs, hi quality plug wires and bump your timing from 10* btdc up to 12* btdc. make sure the spout connector is removed when you set the timing.
once you have done these things then we can look at other options. your motor runs speed density efi which doesnt play well with chips, or major displacement changes.
Okay so it's a 302 rebuilt with about 111k miles Jasper block and heads has JBA shorty competition headers I'm just looking for some extra grunt when I get into the pedal sometimes I'll be driving and I'll floor and and the truck won't down shift or anything it's my first v8 so I figured chipping it would do it all for me but if you think the chip is a bad idea I won't even mess with it I'll just bump my timing up.
you need gears period. probably not the answer you want to hear. the 302 isnt a power house to begin with. its a hi rpm motor, you have a great motor and with the headers your heading in the right direction. you might consider a new trans Valvebody built by ThePunisher, it will really wake up your trans and improve shifting and such.
I run 35's being pushed by 5.8/e4od combo and have 4.88 gears.
A chip is only going to lighten your wallet. It may change the shift point and firmness, but there is no HP or TQ to be gained with an off the shelf chip that could be done with a base timing bump. Bumping the base timing by 2-3 degrees is a free mod that requires no pricey chip.
X2 on a Punisher valvebody.
Another thought....did you re-program the PSOM for the taller tires?
Good advice, I run a chip for the shifting purposes.(Transmission).As mentioned: changing gears, headers , etc etc will give you what your after(I hope).Years of owning my 1992 and it being speed density, there is only so far you can go .I have re geared 488, edelbrock performer intake ,bassani headers, duals with flowmasters ,bbk 56mmthrottlebody , intake,K/N fipk, dop in msd distributor ,msd blaster coil ,msd6a ignition.I recently had my engine rebuilt and am happy with the power I have now Good luck TR

transmission is built like a brick **** house the tranny thinks it an f250 put it that way lol but what is the PSOM and how do I
Okay so I advanced my timing and holy **** the throttle response is sooooooo crisp doesn't feel any faster top speed wise but the acceleration is definitely improved never would hug me to the seat like that and the throttle response is just crazy now taping the gas gives instant reaction from the throttle body unlike before didn't think it would make this much of a noticeable difference. Wow
