I recently purchased a 2001 F350 with the PSD and noticed that it had an X Power Chip installed in the computer under the dash. I am looking to do upgrades to the intake and exhaust systems as well as a programmer or flip chip.
My question is how do I find out what the X Power Chip is programmed for? (I bought the truck through a dealership and they have no info on it)
And if I want a different program, will I need to find a stock chip to replace the X Power Chip or can the X Power Chip be reprogrammed by one of the programmers out there?
1st i have never heard of an x-power chip, oh sorry welcome to FTE, there is no factory chip, the chip is plugged into the program port of the pcm(computer), so if you take the chip out the truck will be back to stock, wait wait wait, most chips are plugged into the pcm which requires you to remove the computer to see it, you may have some performance device plugged into the diognostic port under the dash but the same applies. if you want to go to a flip chip than you will trash that and install a chip into the pcm...
Thanks for the response. I did notice that it is plugged into the computer and not the diagnostic port and it looks like the reason that I can see it is because the case that the computer rests in has a hole cut in the back of it...
