AC Pump Siezed :(

67/4.6/4X4
I finally got the belt loose. Not out of the engine yet though.
The AC Pump belt pully seems to be siezed.
The Trucks in a big puddle right now, I'll have to wait if I've got to get down on the ground.
BUT....How do you get that AC Pump out of there?
Anybody link me to a write-up?

My hands and arms are killing me now. All beat up from trying to get the 1/2" Flex bar in that square hole. Then I wasnt strong enough, and had to find a piece of pipe to 'extend' the handle.
I think I'm just not talented enough to be working on my Truck any longer!

"All beat up from trying to get the 1/2" Flex bar in that square hole. "

That's why they make tensioner wrenches. The hole "looks" like it should be an easy shot with a ratchet or bar....

I haven't done a 4x4, but the 4x2 was awkward. I used a Gearwrench for the bolts that hold the compressor to the engine block after breaking them loose with a box end so as not to overload the gearwrench.

How'd you get to the bolts holding the compressor on?
From up above?
Down Below?
Take off any Sheet plastic?
Radiators?

It was a salvage truck a while back. Radiator was out, but I'd pull the shroud and any obstructing lower plastic and try first. Lots of thrashing from above and below to get the hardware off, and it came off downwards. As I recall I had to turn the steering wheel to get the drag link in position to slip the compressor out. Use a bright flashlight or be good at reading hardware by feel. A long sleeve shirt is advised to protect your arms.

Oh Joy, thanks for the tips.
In a day or so I'll move it away from the mud puddle and into the barn.
Thanks.
Oh how I'm looking forward to this one

Don't forget to break torque on the compressor connections BEFORE unbolting it, and use new seals when replacing. I put trucks up on stacked (nested, so they stay together, or welded together, so they REALLY stay together) steel rims instead of jack stands. The front wheels and area around them will be free.
I also had the fenderwell out on that side because I harvested it, but they are easy to pull if you find that useful.

I hope the fender well can be replaced!
All those plastic Studs broke and must be replaced on the covers over the Radiators.
Too cold and went right now. It'l just have to wait awhile.
Thanks for the Tips, I printed it for a "motors" manual when I get it moved into the barn.

Look at the "help" products area in your local auto store, or go to a paint and body shop which is more likely to have variety

There are plenty of replacement plastic fasteners available. Save the busted ones for samples and for the metal screws that are in some of them.

"Cold and wet?"
It doesn't get cold in the South!
