Unhappy 02 F150 S-Crew won't start-rythmic clicking under dash

I'm going to play damsel in distress here for a minute...I just went out to start my truck & move it and it wouldn't start. I unlocked with the remote, put the key in, turned it, and there were some clicks(not like the solenoid clicks when it's out), then nothing. There is a rythmic clicking coming from under the dash, even after I took the key out, sounds a little like a turn signal. And the remote door lock won't work now. Anyone have any ideas?
Oh, and I had just driven it 20 minutes earlier, no problems.

Bingo! Mine did the exact same thing when my battery died. It was right after I drove 4+ hours, let it sit for 1 hour, wouldn't start, all kinds of clicking.

Is that the original battery? If so, you did really good, mine died at 4 years.

Ya i would say battery cause when the truck was running the alternator was charging enough to just keep the battery balanced not charge it but maintain it. When you turned the truck off.... no more maintaining(alt. recharge) so the battery didnt hold. Swap the batttery or even jump it and then drive to advanced or something and let them test it with a bench tester or in car.

I must confess to blond roots...My battery cable was loose. I went back to my office and thought it over for a couple of hours, but I didn't even think about the battery when it happened, I was stressed from finding my Bronco broken into the night before. Thanks for the responses though
Laketrout, it's not the original battery, the 3rd I think...the last one died when lightening hit too close to the truck.
