Big thermostat problem-help please!!!

I went to change the thermostat in my 75 f-100. I then quickly realized I had been the wrong thermostat. Or so I thought. Turns out it was the correct one for a 390 or 360 motor, which is what I have. The problem is that the manifold and carb were changed out to 4 barrell manifold (only God knows when), and the thermostat and maniflold came off a 361 ford motor. This was generally a f-600 type truck motor. The real big problem is I BROKE the thermostat housing. (a#$@#@$#) Now there is no auto parts store in the country that carries that housing for that maniflold. I have checked everywhere. My only hope is the salvage yard and I dont think that looks to promising. I have found nothing. If I cant find the housing, I will have to buy an entire new manifold. Where can I find a housing for this stupid 5 dollar thermostat that is on the verge of costing me a 1000% more. HELP PLEASE SOMEBODY.

Check the salvage yards that specialize in heavy trucks, you might have a better chance of them having the right tstat housing.

El Wrongo!

A 361 (FT) Intake Manifold is completely different than an FE engine.

Most likely you have an early FE 4 barrel intake that used the Large thermostat and housing versus the Later small style. These two Ford FE pros should have one...

DSC Motorsport Ford Racing Parts

Carl's Ford Parts

Or do a search for Stant 31403 should be around $9 new.

When requesting the LARGE thermostat (if that is indeed what you need) ask for a 74 Dodge 318 T-stat, rather than a 63 Galaxie 406, the dimwit behind the counter will have better luck with it.

Thank you very much. I was able to locate one at Carls as you said I would. Turns out this is a very very rare thermostat housing and intake. Its found mostly on 427 high performance or 390 type motors on the 66 or 67 galaxies or fairlanes. No salvage yard I called even had a clue about this. NAPA, Oreillys, AutoZone couldnt even figure out what it was out of, let alone locate a housing for the thermostat. It would be sweet if the motor was swiched out on this truck to a 427 high performance. Probably the 390 though and thats alright. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
