My wife drives an 07 Dodge 5.9 2500 Megacab 4x4.Before that she had a 6 blow(my mistake)before that she had a 97 Dodge 2500 5.9 12v.So she smells of diesel just like us.
You really want to know what my wife thinks about diesel trucks?
Very cool !
knows enough of the basics to ask intelligent questions. does make it hard to bulls**t my way to a new mod,
She's is the best co-pilot I ever had though..
She was my tool bitch and light holder today.
Funny. . . I've had a lot of girls in the garage with me. . . but at some point or another. . . then end up crying?
Timmy
so it's not like her choice of fingernail polish is Ford grease.
So she smells of diesel just like us
My wife isn't really into the repairs,( my fault really, lack of patience) but she is all over it when it's detailing time!
I gotta agree w/ others here,I got a good one.
(wouldn't take a million $ for her,or give you a dollar for another one just like her)
I don't have a steady significant other, they tend to come and go! They all seem to have a problem with how much I love my truck and my dogs!
The latest girl is a pipefitter/welder and when I asked her what dream truck was she said a King Ranch Diesel Crew Cab! Well I walked her out to my truck and said it's not a King Ranch but I got the rest right! Haven't had the chance to have her help work on it but she is more than willing and she always manages to twist my arm into driving where ever we go! Maybe I'll hold on to this one for a little while!
Mine doesn't bother me about mods or time spent working on the truck. She doesn't like climbing into the truck since it has no steps on it. She doesn't complain though. She's only 5'1". I told her she could have an easier way to get in the truck if she bought those steps that drop down automatically. She didn't go for it.
She won't be around if she has to get dirty or be cold. But I suppose I can't complain since she makes up for it in every other way imaginable.
My wife and I work together 6 days a week. When we close the store, she goes in the house and I go into my shop. We get along very good this way. After over 30 years together, I think I will keep her.
Heck, she gave me a BTS and another live tuning from Jody for Christmas. She understands what my truck means to me. She also puts up with all the guys that bring their trucks to my shop to do Mods or just fix a problem.
At first my GF (of 6.5yrs) was a little chapped at the time/$ I was putting into the truck (and not the house), but she's gotten used to it. We agreed up front that her $ was her $ and my $ was my $. Before the truck it was the Jeep - that was her suggestion I get. Between my fleet (in sig) and her 08 Subaru Ouback, it's ironic that the truck is the most comfortable to drive/ride. She never complains about the camper, tho - or the $ I put into that.
She still hasnt driven it yet - she's afraid of the clutch. But soon we'll head out to a big parking lot and let her play around. Never know when she'll HAVE to drive it...
She's not much of a mechanical person, but when I'm wrenching she's always willing to bring me a brew - especially when the cursing starts to get outta hand.
We're both guilty of flirting with others, so when other guys start getting too close I just tell 'em "you can have her, but you gotta KEEP her". That usually slows 'em right down (and p!sses her off...)
If I ever see my wife approaching any vehicle with a tool of any sort, except maybe a lug wrench and I haven't asked her to bring it to me, I will full-out tackle her and demand that she stop whatever it is she thought she was going to do NOW.
Now that said... wifey is very good about not whining when I need/want to do something to the truck. If it was every weekend she'd probably complain, but she's generally pretty good about it. Over the years between dirt bikes, sleds, and trucks she's gotten used to it, and she knows I save quite a bit of coin most times by doing the work myself. Plus, sometimes she gets a good laugh out of some of my antics
She's not as in to details on the diesels but knows enough of the basics to ask intelligent questions. does make it hard to bulls**t my way to a new mod, but she appreciates the improvements we've made.

Wow, sounds just like my girl. We've joked around that she's my 'voice of reason'. When I run something by her, she'll ask me if I NEED it, or WANT it. I hate it when she does that!!
She's helped out on the truck before, usually is there just to hang out. She does appreciate how I take care of my vehicles, her's included. I've gotten her onto checking the oil, fluids, and tire pressure regularly. When she was still at school she had a roommate that had a tire that looked low, so she reached INTO HER PURSE and pulled out a tire pressure gauge to check them and help air them up. Now I've got her pointing out all the vehicles on the road with squatty tires or brake dust all over their wheels or trucks that need air bags to level things out. It's great!
I don't think I still have the picture, but I was changing the injectors on my truck and trying to check the cup on a back cylinder, making sure it was clean and got the washer out. I couldn't get back far enough so she jumped up to take a look at it. So I snapped a picture with her pretty much in the engine bay with just her legs sticking out from the front end.
My wife gets to hear the crap talk between me and my son (he has a dodge) and gets a little ill at us for that some times. But she don't mind me working on my truck as long as I get her little honey do's done. She don't care what I spend on it, but she don't really know how much any way. She always said its crazy blowing smoke. Until we was coming home from RRE09 and a car was acting stupid by us and this really floored me. SHE SAID SMOKE THERE ASZ!!! So with that said I am for sure going to keep her, we have only been married 27 years
My girl is pretty reasonable with it. If im out there till 3 or 4 using a impact gun she gets a little angry, but i am trying to get her to come out and help. mabey someday!
Well my wife helped me put on my 5". We were laying under the truck for what felt like hours. I don't have any pictures of that but I cann't work under it without someone helping, like my 3 year old daughter.
That's a great picture, Jeremy.
.
My wife tells everyone that she doesn't do anything, she married her mechanic.
Whatever I say is needed, she is ok with it.
Her vehicle or mine.
