oh i should mention she did crank just fine in fact better than before, It went thru 5 times of cranking before batteries got weak each at about 10-20 sec of cranking, I cycled the glow plugs twice before cranking with about 10-15 sec of wts light staying lit then it would click and voltmeter would fluctuate. I forgot to look in the mirror for white/blue smoke tho. I do beleive with batteries recharged and warm and it being in the 20's for low instead of single digit it should start. Hopefully and God willing!!
SHE IS ALIVE SHE FIRED UP TODAY!!! she was a lil loud at first but not running in 2 wks kinda expected now letting fluids get ran thru her before i take off. THanks very much everyone for your help this has revamped my interest in diesels and not want to sell her and keep her till she finally dies.
yes it was the ground on driver side battery. I had to connect it to the alternator bracket due to the bolt on block being 1/2 inch and the cable only having a 3/8 end, but it works and doesnt seem to bog down the electrical system or starting.
OK if you had no power, or at least not enough power to light the dome light, you must also have a body to motor or chassis to motor ground problem as well.
I have added several grounds between the battery, motor, chassis and body to replace or add to the factory grounds.
More grounds won't hurt a thing and may cure even more problems.
