My name's Doug. Dough is what I don't have. Josh, I don't care. I didn't post what I did to try and make you look silly. I don't have a thing against you. If you would follow my advice your life would be better. Eliminating mistakes before they start is always best and the more knowledge you have the fewer mistakes you are going to make and if you don't understand that, and want to dismiss that out of hand because your feelings are hurt, that is your loss, not mine.

Back up - Chill and think about it. Apply it to something that you truly know and have experience at. Then imagine someone making a statement concerning that which you know well, that you know is wrong. What would you advise them to do? Keep at it- sooner or later you're bound to get it right?

A very real likelihood of this whole thing is that it's very possible you did nothing wrong at all Josh. There is a word called coincidence in the English language for a reason.

But you stated something that wasn't possible, coupled with a statement that led me to believe that this was a recent repair to the truck. This isn't the only forum I visit, and I pay a whole lot more attention to people who want help than those that just talk about their vehicles. Not to mention that my memory is not like it was when I was your age. I am old enough to be your grandfather. But what do I know? There is a bumper sticker that says " hire a teenager- they know everything".

So Josh, Do what you want. But be secure in the knowledge that I really don't care what you want to do to try and hurt me. I'm not on this forum to win a popularity contest. It doesn't take a lot of looking at some of my posts to figure that out. I'm not here to try and prove to anyone that I'm some kind of Ford guru. My main motivation is to help or learn. Outside of that, I try and make people laugh occasionally, but I think I may be funnier to myself than others, although I get a good one in every now and then.

And though I think your attitude and actions are somewhat childish, that's OK too. You have that right- you are young and it's more natural that you be there than not. You are not acting any younger than your age, so what's wrong with that? If we could go back in time, and you would stay the same age and I would regress back to yours, you would probably appear much more mature than me, ( and probably would be).

But- Speaking from experience, right now you are experiencing a curse where your feelings are clouding your judgement, your focus is on the wrong things, and the end result will be your loss.

But the bottom line is this- I can tell what someone does or doesn't know from their comments. You probably can too. You can either do something about that or just get pissed off at everyone who points it out.

Happy New Year.

Not gone- moved here. Bad decision IMO. I thought it would be a cool diversion and maybe interesting and telling in its own right, Here it will just get lost and might as well have been removed.

1st off I didn't think anything Doug said was "smart-a##"

stuff like that happens when you sell a vehicle. She got pissed that you sold her. I had a car when I was stationed in Spain, I bought her for $600 bucks and I beat the dog **** out of her, but I took care of her too. She had electric windows that didn't work, I went so far as to break the channel that the window went up in down in to make a brace. When it got hot I would pull the brace out and let the window down for fresh air, when it rained or got cold I would wedge the channel under the window to keep it up in place.

She went through tons of oil, I just had to make sure she was topped off. When I was set to transfer I sold her to another guy on base for $600, I told him you have to constantly keep on top of the oil, less than two days later she was dead on the side of the road, couldn't handle being separated from me. Poor thing. He wanted his money back, but the title had already been mailed off to be transferred to his name. I had to leave in two days, so I gave him his money (I checked to make sure she was indeed dead, motor was seized...) and told him he has to deal with it still, cause I couldn't stick around. They tried to keep me from transferring because of my abandoned vehicle, but I said look, this fck beat her into the ground, it's in his name, its his problem, he couldn't prove I gave him his money back

Anyways I got two years of faithful service from that Fiat Regatta for $600 plus maint and gas. Good deal and fond memories in my book.

Cheese and rice! I'm a softy- but I don't think I'd have done that- Especially without getting the vehicle back. But stuff like that makes it easy to sleep at night, doesn't it.

And I have loaned people money in the past that I knew full well would never be repaid before I lent it. But there was an ulterior motive there, I knew once they owed me the money they would make themselves scarce. Sometimes it's worth $20 just to be rid of some acquaintances.

Sometimes logic outweighs how you feel about something. I felt that the guy did it on purpose because he regretted the purchase. Spain had a lemon law of sorts, if you know something is wrong about a car and you don't disclose it he can take legal action. Couldn't prove otherwise so I decided "logically" that I had gotten my 600 out of the car and it was worth it to give it back to him so I don't get stuck on legal hold waiting for it to clear. (I was anxious to get to my next command...)

I also couldn't take the vehicle with me from spain because it didn't have DOT rated saftey equipment (Lights, lenses, and such)

Man- I am so thankful I happened to spot my neighbor unhooking his hose and putting one of those Styrofoam covers on his outside faucet today.

I have a little room I built on the backside of my house that contains a washer and dryer. I was busy getting the doors to close so the extra vent from my central air could do some good when I noticed.

It's possible that the outside faucets would have slipped my mind and we're headed for the very rare teens for the next several days here. Even though I don't have a license, I ought to run an ad with 'broken water pipes a specialty' in a couple of days. We're just not built for teens here. Rarely seen , so we're not accustomed to preparing for them. I'll be cranking over engines looking for water pumps that turn, because we generally only need concern ourselves with antifreeze that protects a smidge over freezing. Seeing as it's not common and rare for any extended period.

What I really need though is a northern woman, they know how to pass the time when it's cold outside.

Well today it was in the low 20s, so I thought I'd go and see if my truck would start and stay running without the choke wired up. I did the usual song and dance....pump pump pump crank, pump pump pump pump crank crank, etc., and after a couple attempts I got it backed up to the end of the driveway. It ran like a top!

And even in this freezing weather, I got mid-gauge on oil pressure running Rotella 15w40.

I was going to ask. You're in central aren't you? I was wondering if this front was going that far south. I tried leaving my faucets dripping, but it got so cold here the one in the back yard froze anyway. In the front there is a 5' x 5' patch of ice that looks like something in Natural Bridge Caverns.
It's silly cold here for a Texas boy.

Does your house have an inside valve that shuts down the outside hose lines? I close those valves, then just leave the outside bibbs open. No dripping, any expansion happens right out the end of the bibb, and no home made hockey rinks in the yard....

No. That would be a good idea but we just don't get any seriously cold weather for any length of time here every year. The usual lows are in the high 20's and it usually gets up to 40 or so on those cold days. We stay above freezing 90% of the time in winter.

To give you an idea- the frost line where I live (for building code) is 7".

Yes it is. But you wouldn't want to be here in August.
