I'm still confused about this storm that is coming. I'm by no means a weatherman or scientist. But I was in the Mountains to our east today. As I headed south towards the center of the State we got into wind 20 MPH. But as we looked West the skies were not showing the signs that I have known for most of my life living here that spelled WARNING. Then I'm seeing conflicting data on the different weather sites.
The site you posted Bruce even made it more conflicting because if L.A. is going to get all that rain yet the storm reports say it is coming out of the Gulf of Alaska this will be an EVENT. Because in 59 years of living here storms either hit the Southern Cal Coast or the come out of the Gulf of Alaska & hit Northern Cal & spread to us. With a Jet stream traveling fast west to east this will be interesting.

I understand Craig. But that's what makes this exceptional. We have all these things coming in at once. They are saying that we may get ten feet of snow in the mountains followed by a "pineapple express" system following.
In the winter of 96-97, here at my place we had 5-6ft of snow followed the next day by 13" of rain... which melted most of the snow. I live on a hill at 6500ft. and the top of the hill where I live is only about 25ft higher than my house. We had ground water coming in to our house! That was the year that Hwy 395 was flooded north and south of Carson City and there was three feet of water all over the Reno airport. I don't remember what happened out at Fallon but the Truckee River was WAY outside it's banks.
Surprise! They allow smoking inside? That's rare anymore!
Looks like a nice gathering. Good for you guys.
When they passed the no smoking laws in restaurants and bars, any establishment who sold 15% of the business' profit from tobacco products could continue smoking. So if you own a bar and sold cigars and/or cigarettes, you could still smoke.
And they were very sneaky about it when it passed and put into law, it was retroactive until the previous end of the year sales, so you couldn't adjust your records to be eligible.
Thanks Bruce, it was a great time for all that attended.

I remember that winter. Vici & I were dating & she lived in the Topaz Lake area. We spent all night sand bagging with the Fire Dept. Vici is a former Deputy Sheriff that worked for four years under Jerry Maples in Douglas Co. So we got put to work. That was a storm.
I hope the snow stays up in your area. That is where we need it if we are going to have any water this summer in the valleys.
So it will be interesting, I sure hope a repeat of 96-97 isn't in the works. That didn't benefit anyone as I remember.
I don't remember what Fallon was like but the road was washed out right behind me in Wilson Canyon as I was headed to Vici's. Yerington had canoe races down the Main St. There was 3-4 ft of water right in downtown Yerington.
