The hydroboost works like a valve. When you press on the break pedal, the valve opens allowing fluid to be pushed into the master cylinder so that the breaks will clamp down on the disc. In my case, the hydroboost went out. When I pushed my break pedal, it went all the way to floor because there was no pressure in the hydrobooster.( thats what I was told by the mechanic who fixed it.)

Sounds good, BUT we are speaking of two different hydraulic systems that can not and do not mix. Your brake pedal is mechanically attached to the piston that compresses the brake fluid pressurizing the brakes. All the booster does is apply additional force from the power steering pump to the piston, reducing the amount of force you must apply with your foot.
Hey DB01, I see you area also in SC!
I am still holding out for the master cylinder though - unless there was something actually broken (as opposed to worn out).
Safety laws require that power brakes have residual braking power if the booster fails.
oh **** my bad.. was just looking around after having a noise from what sounded like around the hydro boost and found this thread.. (no problem like this guy) did not check the date before posting.. wish it would pop up a warning.. dang.. thanks
