I have a 90's model LGT 18 ,the drive shaft from the motor to the rear axle needs U Joints . Small 1/2 Inch roller bearing pin & block type . I haven't had much luck finding a vendor ,& the dealer has the shaft , ($ 525.00) but no repair parts for it . Any help would be appreciated ...
Drive shaft re builder won't mess with it , or ,they want to cut the ends off & put larger ones on (I tried that first )The Front end of the unit needs to have the already square hole in it to be able to reinstall it .
The Parts have been at Napa (tried that next) for 2-3 days now , they cannot come up with the right size.
I also have already tried Spicer , I did that also before posting ..
Lastly I thought we had a small engine repair guy in the garage & workshop section (I talked to him before on a small engine problem)That is why I posted this there ( since it is a garden tractor ) ..I was hoping he would see it & maybe tell me who to buy the correct pin & block joints from.
My last resort ,will be to make them myself. I Know where I can buy the bearing caps.
Loooooonnnng loooooonnnnng time ago I bought a unknown make or model drive shaft from a junk yard and they measured the yoke on the shaft and the yoke on my truck went to a book and cross refranced the sizes and I got the right size u- joints thru the local NAPA........ Seems to me they could do the same with your tractor, try a big high end salvage yard.......
I can't resist Tractors all kind especially "old iron" are my second favorite hobby , here is my 51 Cub after new paint before i put the tin back on, I also have a 57 Cub Lo Boy and an 86 JD 850.......
