Good idea. Doesn't have to be sand, just something heavy. But you should do just fine without it. Besides if you get as much snow as you're saying you'll have plenty in the back.
Well, check out this forecast for Dorchester County.....
A CHANGEOVER TO A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW IS EXPECTED AFTER MIDNIGHT... BUT WILL CHANGE BACK TO ALL SNOW LATER SATURDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON... AND WILL CONTINUE SATURDAY NIGHT. SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED... WITH SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES FROM EARLY SATURDAY THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING. THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR MORE THAN 12 INCHES OF SNOW... ESPECIALLY NORTH OF LINE FROM CAMBRIDGE TO HURLOCK AND NORTHWARD.

Just be careful of the light rear end....all that power and light rear = seeing your tail lights in front of you!
I also have parked the snow blower on the rear sidewalk with the electric cord going near the outlet on the porch. Electric start.... topped it off with gas and oil. Covered it with a tarp.
