I plan on doing a lot of sound deadening in my truck once I get it painted, lol. Gotta get all the sound deadening stuff, fatmat, before the carpet will go in. That should make it fine for the sound on the inside.
an idea i had: run some grommet so your wiring has somewhere to go, and then fill the A and B pillars full of foam. and on super and crew cabs, the C pillar too, of course. and put some dynamat on the roof, under the liner too. behind the seat, and the backside of the dash.
I plan on putting some fatmat, same thing as dynamat just a lot cheaper, and layering it over the entire floorboard, behind the seat, roof, and behind the door panels. Behind the dash is a good idea too. I was thinking about doing the kick panels as well and then just getting a kick panel carpet kit and cover it up. I dunno about that though, I kinda like the metal kick panels, still kinda iffy on that part. Should quiet up the cab quite a bit.
Then time for the stereo... Got a few ideas for that one I could spend days doing stereo systems, lol. I'll probably have to start another thread for some shallow mount subs since I have a regular cab, get some ideas for what people like to use, that kinda thing. Gotta use that stereo to drown out the loud exhaust that everyone is going to love... Lol, even if you don't hear the exhaust on the inside. Speaking of which, if anyone has any ideas or preferences or opinions or something for a stereo, pm me or something.
ddh1, i just did some research for what i have planned for my 78 when i do it. and the whole system, from the capacitor to the tweeters, is gonna run me $3,160. it has 4 subs, 4 amps, 4 6x9s, 4 6.5s, 4 tweeters, 2 5x7s, a $250 head unit, and 40 farad cap. the cap is 20,000 watt-ready, and i should only be drawing in the neighborhood of 4,500.
Holy f***, lol. What I was planning on doing would be around 1-2k all in all. But ya, you should keep me informed with that. Interested to see what you're planning and what products and all that. But for the sake of keeping this relevant to the thread, lol, that should cover up the sound of the exhaust nicely.
lol. cover the sound of the exhaust and everything else you can think of. including your thoughs... if youd like, i can PM you a list of what i had picked out and a description of how i would set it up.
That video doesn't even come close to giving the decible level justice on open headers.
The funny part is across the street and down a little is a cattle ranch. Whenever I would start the truck to move it around in the driveway or garage it would send all the cows running, it was like a stampede!
I'll try to get a video this week with the 3" exhaust and cheap Summit Turbo mufflers. It's currently 5 degrees out and going to be that way until Friday, so we'll see.
Looking forward to the video. And ya, I know the open headers are going to be extremely loud, lol, its just hard to see how loud it actually is through a video. Crazy it would send the cows running from that far away, lol. I can't wait to get my exhaust finished... Should be pretty nice once its done.

Might list the spec on that engine as some guy with a stock 360 might think he could get that sound out of it.
