I'm new here but I thought I'd add to this thread. I'll be trading my 1993 F350 (351 Windsor) on this truck. It's a 1993 with a 7.3 IDI. I'm looking forward to getting it. The truck is in good condition, but I intend on taking it from 'good' to 'great' condition over time. The current owner is keeping the big box in the back, but I'd love to find a decent 100-gallon-or-so transfer tank to have on the back. Over time I'll see what I can find. Anyways, it'll be my first Ford diesel and I'm looking forward to it.
Just bought my first "classic" diesel last week...1984, F250 Centurion DRW, automatic transmission, 6.9., 8,000 miles, have lived on this site for the last 5 days, thank you to every person that has ever posted here, you have gave me a great start....but now I have my first major problem...tranny is hemorrhaging fluid. I will post a run down in the appropriate section...thank you again to all of you.
a little run down on the truck:
Bought it right outside of Columbus Ohio. the first owner paid cash for the truck. later that year he needed a loan. asked a local business owner (owned a huge truck accessories shop) the guy demanded the keys, title and truck to make the loan....gave the guy the loan, he never paid back the loan. the truck has sat in an air conditioned warehouse since 1985, with the mechanics as the shop keeping care of it. the old man passed 2 years ago, I then bought it from the family.
Other than the oxidized paint (which i have buffed out) the truck looks just like you would expect an 8,000 mile truck to look. so far the only things i have found are 2 leaking fuel return caps, oil leak from the harmonic balancer seal, and a horrible transmission leak (I will post detail in another thread, need help/advise). so far so good...wish me luck.
yeah,i can't imagine any of the old seals and gaskets will be any good at this point.he'll need to go right through it if he wants it's reliable again.small price to pay though to have a new '84 again.
never saw a F250 dually before.
looks like someone is not telling the truth somewhere along the line.
i bet it is a home built frankenstein with 1,608,000 miles on it.

Yeah, but it's a Centurion, that makes it a Frankenstein the moment they have their hands on it.

My dad had an 84 f250 dually. Centerion made them so you could have a super cab dually. Otherwise you were stuck with either a crew cab or regular cab in the dually platform

but it was not a F250 dually. it was a F250 with a dual wheel conversion kit added.
ford never made a F250 dually.

Ford never made a 4 door Bronco or a 75-91 Econoline pick up truck either. But Centurion is a conversion company that did build them. I believe they did the conversions making the F250 dually's, I don't think it was a kit you could buy.
all they did was add adapters to bolt the dually wheels on. it still has F250 SRW axles front and rear.
ford does not care what an aftermarket manufacturer added to it. if oyu go to a ford dealer for parts for that thing they are going to ask you for the VIN. and the VIN is going to come back to a SWR F250. and that is what they are going to give you parts for.
just like an auto parts store, because no books list a f250 dually.
plus, if you ask for parts for a F350 DRW, you will get the wrong axle and brake parts, because they are different than SRW parts.

That goes with any modified vehicle. When you own a modified/converted vehicle you need to do the research to find out what the correct replacement parts are. Hell two of my vehicles have or are going to have parts from multiple vehicles. I'm building a 1954 F100 extended cab 4x4. Ford never built an extended cab 54 F100 let alone a 4x4 one. When it's finished it will have parts from close to 17 different vehicles. And my 89 E350, is going to have a transmission & transfercase from a 78 F250 4x4, a rear diff from a 99 E350 and an engine from a 78 F150 4x4. Yes I do keep a note book for each with all the info needed for parts in the future.
Just because Ford didn't build it as a F250 dually doesn't mean it's not a F250 dually now. But in the same case just because it was converted to a dually doesn't mean it's an F350 dually now.

i put a drw axle under mine from an '89 f350
when i ask for parts related to the rear,i just say i have an '89 f350 drw and i need a wheel cyl, brake shoes, seal etc.
however today, know what i did? i forgot to tell the line up shop,it's an f250 so they set the machine to the fender badges i put on it (f350) and it's pulling hard to the right.oops! so now iv got to go back.
that one was my bad.so i told them i'm willing to pay twice.
i dunno what the line up spec differences are between the d60 and the d50 but apparently too much lol!
A local body shop told me about it. About 30 bucks a quart at Oriley. They keep it in the back. It feels like lotion. So far I have done on 07 Jeep Liberty, 13 Jeep Patroit and 3/4 of the truck and still have some left. The lt side of the truck had some dents it just got a spray can for now. Doing all the bodywork, repaint, wheel well arches, body molding are all on the list.
