Never? I had the front hubs off recently and noticed the fittings on the tie rods, but they seemed to be doing their jobs. This may be standard neglegence, but it's no where in any service manual I've read.
Just grease them utill you see grease. Hopefully you have a grease gun. You are lucky you have u-joint fittings, I think there is a total of 4 fittings on my Ex.
this is interesting - because mine has u joints all over the place. Could this indicate a last-minute (or "last year" "production change"? I know mine is legit "as produced", serial no. suggests it was from the last week or so of production before the Excursion line was shut down.
I got it when it had about 10,000. mi on it - looked and smelled like a brand-new one - meaning, under-carriage obviously never had a spot of dirt on it - receiver never had a trailer hitch in it.
