I have a 2003 6.0 f-250 the truck starts fine when it is cold but after it warms up to normal operating temp the truck has to crank a little longer than i think it should some times you have to give it a little fuel when it sounds like it is trying to strike to get it to start. I know if any body can help me it is this forum i really enjoy reading all the thread i can.
I had the same problem with my 05 6.0 litre. Several dealers tried different things, but finally fixed the problem by replacing a tee in the high pressure oil line that is on the back of the motor. It seems that when the motor oil was warm, this tee would weep ever so slightly and not allow sufficient oil pressure to build to supply fuel to start the motor.
Same prob here. Progressively got worse, finally wouldn't start at all. Dealer replaced leaking STC fitting and "D" rings on oil rail plug..Starts like a new truck now.
The 2003's do not have "Snap to Connect" (STC) fittings, but it sure does sound like a slow leak in the high pressure oil system (leaking D rings are very common).
