My 6.0 has a little trouble getting started

Hi guys and gals, I just bought my 2007 f350 6.0 2 weeks ago, on cold start it's a little fussy getting started, but once warmed up I have no issues at all! Any ideas what it could be and is it expensive. When I bought the truck he had $1000 worth of work done, cold start issue. Thanks in advance for help

If it's fussy, you need a to give ita bottle to quiet it down.

What I'd recommend: AR9100 Nanoborate Friction Modifier | Archoil

Use it with Synthetic 5w40^^^^^

Do you happen to know your flash? (Example VXCF4X3, VXCF9XX)

Depending on your strategy, you may not have an inductive heating FICM.

Ok I know the guy I bought the truck off of they did think that there was a issue with the FICM but that was not the case, but may be the case now! Who knows. And this nanoborate friction modifier where can I get that? O Reilleys? This is my first diesel, I am a handy woman. I have to change the oil so I think I will pick some of this ar9100 up. I Donot know what"flash" is sorry I'm green to diesels, but leaning very fast! Thanks for the info! Hopefully it's as easy as that!

Also if you can go pick up a scan gauge at auto zone or online to read live data. That's some of the only ways people can diagnose issues over the web. Or you can use a phone app with a Bluetooth obd2 plug in. Or my favorite the edge cts but it's the pricey option

Amazon or from another internet vendor.

Before you get overwhelmed, here's a great read about the gauges everyone is going to tell you to get:

Advance Auto coupon code TRT30, saves 30% or $50 off a $150 bill.

My '04 cranked fine, but was hard to start when cold. Both batteries were tested and replaced.

If you haven't already, visit this forum's Tech Folder for a lot of great info for new 6.0 owners. You're probably right to be asking questions - from my experience, diesels either start right up or not. Fussy isn't normal.

I have a follow up question, in two parts. First, some background.

I think I have a similar issue. My truck starts without incident, but if I ask for power within 2-3 minutes of startup, I get low torque. Putting my foot harder into the accelerator seems to induce misfires.

Let the truck idle for 5 min before moving, and it feels fine.

I run homemade biodiesel, which is higher viscosity. That may be a contributor.

Anyway, within the last 1000 miles I changed the oil. It was Rotella T6 5W40 (my typical winter oil). I put in Rotella T 15W40 (my typical summer oil).

Can I add in the AR9100 at this point or am I significantly better off to do this with fresh and/or lower viscosity oil?

To be fair, I should also run a tank of petrodiesel through it to see how much of it is fuel viscosity...

regards,

Rory
