2005 6.0 cold problems

I have a 2005 f 250 powerstroke with 6.0. Lately when starting out in the morning it runs very sluggish and 30 mph max for first few miles until warms up. Filters were changed less than 3000 miles ago. I use diesel clean reguarly. After warms every thing fine but it isnt even getting cold here. A little black smoke is coming out and the trans doesnt seem to want to shift until warm also, both problems go away at the same time. Any suggestions at what to look at?

If you don't have the latest inductive heating flash, I would get that done. If you are under the 100k warranty still, take it to Ford and tell them it is sluggish and smokes when cold, they should do the flash for free. If you are out of warranty, it should be about $100.

I have the same problem with my 05 F-250 6.0L. It only started about a couple of months ago. It seems to idle rough on start-up and shiver on acceleration but it's fine after a few minutes of warming up. Please let me know if you source the problem. I will do the same if I find it.

Thanks

Jason

Often times when this happens, one or more of the injectors goes out, once the engine has warmed up, it runs great. The transmission concern is normal, the tranny wont want to upshift until the engine is warmed up
