Got back from Camping. Looks like I need a new trailer battery. Also learned that Highway 532 between Hwy 22 and the Forestry Trunk Road is extremely steep. I probably should have paid attention when i saw a sign saying "trailers not recommended".
Trailer may only weigh two and a half tons, but it sure puckers a guy up to start spinning his tires when he's only a few feet from the edge, and he can't see the bottom.
Had to put it into 4X4 to ensure traction. Wife nearly shat herself too. On the way down the other side, had it in 1st gear for quite a long way.
On our way back this morning, we came out via Highwood junction. Much better idea.
Now need to figure out what kind of trailer battery i need.
I'd love to go back, just not with the trailer! It looked like there were a couple hiking trails that left from the summit, which would be excellent high elevation hikes. There was nowhere to pull my rig over, but there were a couple cars parked there.
All only two hours from my house. I'm really pleased that I found that spot.
Also, Livingstone Falls is a nice little spot. lots of places to play int he river for the kiddies, and apparently the fishing is good around there. I spent a couple hours casting, but not a single nibble.
Anyone have a favourite source for deep cycle batteries in Calgary? Wal-Mart was a bust, and the idiot at PartSource didn't even know what a deep cycle battery was.
I think Canadian Tire will do the trick, but I'm open to suggestions.
Hail in Calgary right now. Not sure if it's large enough to dent my truck, guess I'll know when it stops . . . . sigh.
That's how I lost my expedition last August. Severe hail wrote it off.
