KingFord72's Bumper

It looks like you just cut the ends off a stock bumper and welded some things to it. Am I correct? Also, you do have support for that reciever tied into your frame right? You can't just weld straight to your bumper and expect great support. Same with those loops you welded on, you can't expect them to hold without being tied into the frame. Your going to bend the crap out of that stock bumper if you try to recover something that way.

you can't just assume that's a stock bumper with the ends cut off. How do you know it's not a heavy duy piece of rail that's heavily gusseted and supported and fastened to the frame with grade 8 bolts? just sayin.

Because you can tell by the bends it was a stock bumper, either that or a piece of gutter rail. Jus sayin

x2

Thats what leads me to believe it is just a stock bumper, the bends and such look like one. I'm not trying to be a dick, i'm just saying that looks unsafe.
And thats pretty bad if you see ME saying something looks unsafe.

its 1/4" plt that is bent to match the contour of the stock bumper, the clevis mounts are 1/4" that go through the bumper and bolt to the side of the frame (and still uses the stock bumper mounting holes), and then on the front is 3/4 pcs to make the rest of the thickness if you know what I mean, and the same for the receiver tube it goes the whole way through and is gusseted in the back, not in that pic are the turn backs that go 10" back to guard the lower fender all 1/4 plt and there is also a prerunner style hoop on it.

should be fine if it is properly connected to the frame, and properly gusseted and reinforced... only one way to find out i guess.

I use my reese mounted winch to pull the idiots out of the ditch when they get stuck in the snow while I'm out plowing in my stupid duty. I actually used it today to help me pull a tree down. Climbed up about 30 ft of a good sized oak, looped a chain through a notch, hooked the winch to it, had my buddy keep pressure on the winch while I cut the notch cause it started to lean backwards! Then had him put more pressure on while I did the last cut to bring it down. Love that thing!
