Sorry you get the ******* from a friendly poll. Sorry if you took offense. I did not realize that Posi was a GM brand name or Trak-lok was a Ford name. = SS I am a recent convert from the GM side of the house on hotrods.

SS

So now that is out of the way how bout your opinion on the subject at hand?

Post was not meant to offend or come across as unfriendly, just joking around. Glad to see you crossed over from the dark side. My first car was a 64 Impala, it happens to the best of us.

No problem, it is hard to read someones implied feelings on a forum. I will try better though through time to get the proper names and not mix the brand names.

64 Impala.... not bad, tow door or four? I hate to say it but if I had a 67 GTO I would not even be on this board!! Sorry blue oval guys!

You say your going to use an 05 front end, are you going with the crown vic front suspension? if so I would highly recomend going with a wider rear axle otherwise it will look rreally really funny due to the huge difference in widths. I know the rear is narrower from the factory but the crown vic front end is wider than stock and will make it look even worse witha stock width rear axle, this is why I first went with a 93 crown vic rear axle since it was a very close match to the crown vic front suspension.

I am going with the panther. It is installed and now I am starting on the fuel system and other stuff. I think I can make up the width with backspacing differences in the front and rear plus running a wider tire in the rear end. I did like your idea though of the newer rear end since that would give me instant rear disk brakes. How much did you say you gave for that 93 rear end?

It was a two door hardtop, 230 I-6 with a flat cam complete with 3 on the tree with binding linkage. There wasn't a straight panel on it. My dad figured I wouldn't hurt myself with it.

haha so not the coveted SS. Oh well. Better than my first car. 1982 Datsun 410. Mine came with the tiny 13 rims and the ripped rear seat with the oh so important 1x2 to hold up the hatch back lid. So sad.

I have been reading over and over that the Dana 44 is only rated for up to 300 hp. Jeep owners use them for especially the front differential but not many used them for the rear? Sounds more and more like I should sell the 44 and use the money to upgrade the 9.
