What’s the spec on the 6.9L F250 Vacuum pump? Mine is only pulling 5 in/Hg at idle, and maxes out at 15 or so WOT.
If it's bad, which is my suspicion, anyone have a good lead on rebuild kits. Cost is the name of the game, and I don't want to spend $150 for a new pump.
if the vac pump is going bad, you would be able to tell in the brakes, they will be almost impossible to use, if your a/c blower system has a recirculate setting, it should be controlled by the same vac system, if it has enough pressure on it you can hear and feel a difference in air volume, and i believe it was said when mine went out, that a lot of these trucks the entire blower system for the ac was controlled by the vac pump...
Assuming you have no vacuum leaks then the pump is bad. Should be around 20in vacuum at idle.
If you keep the vacuum gauge on does it hold the vacuum with the engine off?
Don`t know about repair kits but rockauto has reman pumps for around $90 plus core.
i disconnected the pump from the rest of the system, so there is only one hose from the pump to my gauge, and no, the pressure does not remain when the engine is off. Thats the cheaest I've seen so far, so that could be a good option other than the junk yard, thanks.
Buy new it operates the brakes........ value your life first. You will need the correct pulley puller to remove and reinstall the pulley......... azone has them free rent usually.
you could just have a pump that has no oil in it. there is an oil drain/fill plug on teh pump , you might get lucky, i did on mine. i just filled it with some rotella
