Oil temp gauge?

Was looking at a few gauges and noticed an oil temp gauge. 100-250*... was wondering if this is something that could be useul or something thats not really needed. Also, do you have to buy a tach made for the magnetic pickup? or will any tach work?

oil temp gauge isnt needed if you ask me. these have an oil cooler so your coolent temp and oil temp are going to be pretty close. not sure on the tach.

Thats what i was thinkin bout the oil temp. I have an extra coolant temp gauge i might plumb in temporarily to just see what it does. As far as the tach msd makes a pickup that hooks into the alt. wire and supposedly reads rpms how i dunno. It also said something bout an injector wire... pretty sure an idi dont have one tho

If you have the timing gear cover with the correct tach pickup hole then find a tach that fits your dash position if possible and wire it in. The pickup is a Hall effect device works on pulses.
