Have you done anything to reinforce the engine? arp headstuds? stiffer engine mounts? anything like that?

Why does the Ex being designated a family vacation behicle preclude it from being built up?

I bought my Ex to be my wife's daily driver, tow vehicle for our 4-horse bumper pull and 31' travel trailer, and yes, family vacation vehicle. I have beefed it up with power enhancements and next year, plan on installing better injectors (adds tons of horsepower) and possibly a van turbo or 38R ball-bearing turbo, which will increase performance and optimize the new injectors.

Like your husband posted, it's still the family vacation vehicle, it's just faster now.

My wife is right there too bro. My better half actually bought the built long block in my Lightning for me. She LOVES the mods I do to our vehicles, making them stronger, faster, and better.

I think the stronger, faster, better part is ok. I think she has a problem with the louder part.

It is VERY loud from what I heard on the videos.

As for engine mods, I havn't touched the long block YET! Like the lightnings It should hold up as long as I keep it under 10lb of boost. It would have been ok with the wife if I would have kept the stock exhaust on it. The 4" Magnaflow really upset her... I think it sounds like a Hive of pissed off bumble bees at half to WOT but she thinks it sounds like S**T all the time. It does need a tip to get rid of a little "ricer" sound, plus a resonator for the interior hum.. Other than that I love driving it more now. LOL

Oh yea, I installed a FTVB that really helped the shifts out. Now the serpentine belt slips on 1-2 2-3 shifts. Sounds like im getting rubber in a Chevette. LOL

I forget you gasser guys have quiet rigs. PSD's are not only louder in stock form, but a lot of what we do to them makes them even more ummmm, noticeable!

When I watched those vids, the "noise" sounded normal to me, and actually sounded quieter than I thought it would.

Sounds fine for a turboed hotrod but not something I'd want to take the wife and kids on a 10 hour trip in.

A kit sounds interesting. Maybe even just detailed instructions...?

I think for most of us gas'r X's we all could use a good and reliable forced injection, and just maybe gain a few MPG's while at it. So if this system could get into a package type deal, there would be some buyer's if it isnt too out of this world priced

Turbo10, here is instructions on posting pictures on FTE.

Posting pictures on FTE.

1) Create or use and existing album under my User CP
2) Click on Albums
3) Upload the pictures
4) After they are uploaded, double click the picture from the album
5) Scroll down to the BB Code
6) Highlight the code and copy and paste it in the post you want it in.

You use the same code to place the pictures in your SIG.

PS. I like the idea of the turbo in the Excursion. Reps to you on the huge mod.

Thanks for all the welcomes. LOL I just got my SIG filled out. check it out
Your right on the kit, depending on what you want, shooting for only
5-6lb boost you could get by with not having an intercoler. When I put my kit together I wanted injectors that were good for 650 crank HP. I know that's a lot but I planned on upgrades later on. My fuel hat is already set up to add another 255 pump. I have 7/16 SS lines from tank to regulator. So adding 60 lb injectors and another pump i'm good in the fuel department to 950 crank hp. I changed to a blow through style MAF sensor PMAS HPX, in my 3" tube it's good for 650 RWHP, 3.5 tube it's got more in it. I have plans to cut 2 lightning lower intake manifolds in half leaving 6 runners on the front, 3 on each side, then the other one would have 4 runners, 2 on each side. Then I would make a plate to bolt on top. Mount the water to air intercooler on the bottom, make a hat to install a larger throttlebody and have nice cold dense air for when I put a bullet of an engine together. Oh yea, I work at Ford and before I went into maintenance I worked the E40D, 4R100 assembly line, I could take them apart in my sleep. Plus knowing the Factory Tech guy. LOL guess how he got his company name.... I know what all to put in my trans to make it live.
