Was the rubber hose running from the pick-up unit to the suction side of the fuel pump collapsing under suction? Or was the line pinched first and then it started collapsing due to the line being damaged from being pinched?

Thats the question there, becaue if it was pnched after the install, then it there is obstruction in the fuel line. But i have had that off several times now and have found nothing.

The 60.00 pump seem to have fallen through, the guy was supposed to call me by 2:00 to let me know where and when to meet him, well, its 7:30. My local Auto zone has one on the shelf for 141.00. So, tomorrow, I am taking the wife to work, taking the boys to school, and playing withthe truck.. If she treats me right, I might just do some extra cleaning on her.

So, not to get you any more upset than you already are there Pat, was it that restriction in the hose that possibly caused the demise of the fuel pump??

I'm very confused after following this thread for a couple days. Nowhere have a I read where the problem has been diagnosed, everything is speculation and parts are getting ready to be thrown at it. Have you checked for a pinched hose? Have you tested the fuel pump or the fuel pressure? $141 is a lot of money to throw at it to find it doesn't fix the problem, and you can't take it back. I'd be pulling the tank and checking the lines again and the in-tank pickup assembly to make sure I didn't make a mistake or something came off, or I didn't get the length exactly correct. And bench testing the fuel pump.

Yeah Keith, he did do all that, Well, except for testing the pumps output pressure. He even trimmed the intank pick up tube to make sure it was not sucking the floor of the tank. Pat, Ive got my old pump here at the house that I will give you, but it will take a few days of UPSing to get to you. You are more than welcome to it. It has 250K miles on it, but it was doing OK when I removed it and did the FASS pump. PM me with your address if you want it and it will go out tomorrow.

Okay, I put the new fn pump in, still ran like ****, I then brought it home and dropped the tank,. I have the pick up arounf 14", I have removed all of the ,lines ran air through it. I am now trying to put the ****ing tank up, and it fell off the jack, so laid there for 20 mins hoping my damn sister l=in law would come by and give a hand.. sorry, she mustr be ****ing off with her own thing, I now have the tank On the ground and am now trying to figuire out how to put it back on the jack with out it rolling again.. I guess it really isnt that heavy, but it would have been nice to have taken it from my god damn chest and put it on a the jack instead of the ground

I was toying with the idea of doing the Harpoon mod, but maybe I will just let 'er foam. Sounds like it is best left alone.

Sorry to hear about all the problems. I would still consider doing this. It should tell you which way to look. May want to look at the FPR as well.

Pat,

If you have two ratcheting tie-downs use them stretched between the frame rails and under the tank to assist in lifting and stabilizing the tank. Worked for me.

I Used a pry bar and a log, with a second log on the side, I worked the tank up on when end until I go close to center, once there I leaned on the tank ans hoved another log under the other side, thats how I got her off the ground. I raised the tank, and listend to teh pump, then lowered the tank and looked at the line, IT collasped, I again took the tank apart, inspected everything.. saw nothing, Called Meggawatt while taking a break, he suggested the hose might be wrong..So, off I went, back under the truck, adn I lifted and lowered, and what I believe I found was not that it was the wrong hose, but that maybe I still had it to long. So, I have both hoses maybe less then three inches, Raised the tank, it brought the tubing up with it a little. Put the key in the ignition and listened, the pump didnt sound the way I thought it should, but it is a new pump. I lowered the tank again, found no crimps. Raised the tank and cycled the key about 10 times. There still were no kinks. I secured the tank, secured teh cover, took her for a ride, and as of right now, she is running good. So, I am now going to try and get my home work down and get off to school.

I will let everyone know if something changes, adn thank you all for your support!!!!
