I realize these new 6 speeds "learn" your driving habits over the course of time. But how long does it take to "learn"?
I was out of town for a week, and my wife's been driving the truck. Now that I'm back, it seems like it shifts differently. Could it have learned my wife's driving habits and adjusted for her? Makes me feel like my truck is cheating on me!
I suppose it will adjust back to me soon, but if there's a way to reset it, let me know.

Any thoughts or comments?
Reminds me of the time my wife wore my favorite sweatshirt and left her marks in the chest area. She'll never be allowed behind the wheel of my new rig dam it!
but when i was at the dealer i talked to the tech about theis trany and how mine will shift hard and some times really soft and he said its all in what you teach it...if you driver hard it will respond with frimer shifts...and if you drive easy it will shift smoother
Do a search on here...I know this has been discussed before. If I remember right you disconnect the battery for a while and reconnect it. It will then relearn faster. Not sure on how long to disconnect though.
Like I have said in other posts. I must have a dumb truck cause after 13K, it still ain't figured me out yet. I even had at the dealership last week for any upgrades (software), they said they reflashed with the latest but no real change unless it means the truck has to relearn me again. Sometimes it shifts hard with a shudder but the rest of the time just as smooth as you would want. Chris
A day or two is all it takes to set the shift patterns. This isn't something that should change because someone else drove it. The tcm can not be reset my a battery unplug. 13K miles is way too long and I suggest you take it in and have them flash the latest firmware.

Well it took about 3k miles before mine finally started shifting smoother, and if it only takes a day or two to learn your driving patterns then it stands to reason if his wife drove it for a few days, then the truck would start to adjust to her style of driving. That is I assume the trans constantly learns driving patterns, if not then I don't see how it could learn them in the first place. Just my 2 cents worth.

Mine isn't doing anything terrible, but I might mention the firmware next time I'm at the dealer. Is this update something that all trucks should get?
Seems to me that if Ford decided to update the firmware for the 6 speed transmissions, there was probably a good reason for them to invest the effort to do so.

Start flashing these chips just because you think you may have a problem is asking for big problems. From fuel milage to performance, worked for Caddy for many years thats how I know lol! if the SOB is ok leave it alone period!!!
