I'm interested in monitoring temps pressures and codes in my 2001 7.3. Does anyone out there have a suggestion for a PC or other based scanner? I'm totally new to this forum but am learning a lot from you experts and would like to learn more. Repaired my HPOP recently and now feel more confident with other mait. and repairs ( plus there's no construction work here so I'll probably have to become my own mech by necessity) I've seen one from Auterra (Dyno-Scan) and the gauges from Aeroforce. Thanks in advance!!
Best thing to get is Automotive Engenuity... Or AE... Clay at Riffraff Diesel sells them... shoot him an email sales@riffraffdiesel.com
You can pull codes, monitor almost every sensor, troubleshoot with diagnostic tools, and adjust your speedo for different tire sizes... Heck charge your buddies and it will pay for itself...
I'm using a Scan Gauge right now. It does just about everything AE does, and is a bit more convenient to monitor stuff full-time. I'll probably get AE as well, just because I would like to be able to data log, but the Gauge is handy. Here's what it looks like and where I got it from: http://terminatorengineering.com/scangauge/
If money is no object, Ford IDS, otherwise the AE is the most important tool in your toolbox if you plan to modify and work on your own rig. Plus a side benefit is that the AE will read OBD codes from most other vehicles also. Helped a few friends out that way.
Joe- I gotta get out from under my rock more often, that scanguage is a pretty cool little unit. I have a Di-Pricol HPO gauge, but it don't read codes on the fly. Can you do a reset from it too?
Thanks guys I'll be giving Clay a call about a few things in the near future when things get a little bit more affordable. Got duped by Banks a few years ago and was pretty happy until I found about the possibilities of this engine. Thanks to all at FTE!!
