Scanner for 240sx

I've got a '91 Nissan 240sx that's broken and I need a code scanner for it. Can anyone tell me which scanner to get and also how to use it? I'm dumb as dirt when it comes to auto electronics but I'm trying to learn.
I posted on the Nissan site, but did not get much of a response. thanks

Most repair manuals will tell you how to pull the codes. Buy a repair manual they have alot of info and around $15 to $20

I used to work for Nissan, the scanners they use are called Consult 2"s but they're very expensive. I found that the Actron version from the Advance works just as well for around 100 bucks.

Thanks for the replies. I've got a Haynes and a Chilton's manuel and both assume that you're an automotive engineer, and brother I ain't one !!! tho I am trying to learn. I thought that all of the older vehicles had OBD 1. Anyway I found a scanner at Auto Zone for $30. but i'm not sure that it will work. Part #Actron CP-9025.
