trailor wires

i baught my 150 used about 8 months ago, and i decided to get the L.E.D. skull hitch cover for when i dont have the hitch on, but it doesnt light up with the brakes..i went underneath to check it out and the groud wire was cut and just wrapped around some others..i took care of that, stripped it on both ends and reattached it, but still nothing lights up..anyone good with those wires? im usually good with eletrical extras, put in my head unit, amp, sub, and l.e.d.s underneath but i just cant figure this one out..

I have probably the same LED skull that you have on my truck so I assume your working with a flat 4 wiring set up. 1. With the skull unhooked and your headlights and hazards on check with a wire tester to see if your getting power to plug. If memory serves brakes go through the left (Yellow wire) and right turn (Green wire) signal. 2.If you don't have power to the plug in any of the places then check the fuses probably in the engine compartment and they probably a 10 amp fuse. 3.Test again if you still don't have power to the plug then check behind the plug has far as possible forward to see if there is another break or bad connection. Beyond that I can't think of anything else that might help at the moment.
