My question is my engine has on it obdll exemt does that mean an obdll scanner is no good to me? If so what kind of scanner do i need? I am looking at the autoenginuity program for my lap top but i am just curious on what scanner will read it.

Our trucks are OBD-II Non-Compliant. What you need is something that will read the CAN protocol. AutoEnginuity will read it, it is one of the programs that I use and the one I would recommend for people here. You will have to get the Ford License for it as well, otherwise it won't read diesels at all due to that OBD-II non-compliant.
Pros: GUI is very easy to use and understand, for the 6.0 it pulls codes from 9 modules that are available on our computer and you can pull sensor readings as well, you can initiate system tests and programming on certain modules. Buzz test, GEM reprogram etc. Lastly considering all that it can do, it is very much a bargain. Just pulling codes a few times and you'll have it paid for versus having to go to the dealership.
Cons: To me the only con is dependent on the size of the laptop you use.

Not a problem. If you like messing around with your vehicles, in my opinion a program like this is needed, even moreso with the later vehicles and the more sophisticated computers that are on those.
There web site shows the Ford 04-08 psd and mine is a 03 psd....will it work for me?
03 was a transition period between 7.3 and 6.0, that's probably why they only listed 04-08(technically speaking I think it's 07 really for 6.0). They do support the 7.3 engine as well, so I cannot logically think of a reason why it wouldn't support an 03 6.0. More then likely just a typo on their part.
Thanks Tex, does it also allow you to change some of the settings such as with the engine off, closing the IPR for pressure testing?
It allows for some things along those lines. I would actually have to have it hooked up to the truck to know what all it allowed. It will vary between vehicles as well. Only thing that I have done so far is GEM programming and the injector buzz testing.
AE is a great tool. I haven't really gotten into all the functions yet. Very impressive. It can only get better. ITP is where I got mine. They are also a sponsor here.
