</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- END TEMPLATE: bbcode_quote -->Hey thanks for this post I think that may save me a lot of time and trouble. I replaced mine last week just because i had a new on hand, My truck was running rough, I was about to take a 200 mile trip and figured WTH. It made an unbeliveable improvement in the way it ran.... NO MORE CACKLE. Quite and smooth. Till yesterday on the way home been drizzling for about 10 min.stopped at a light, foot on the brake, reached for the wiper control and all at the same time---the light changed, took my foot off the brake, twisted the wiper control and IT DIED! put it in park and started right up. I'll go home amd check the connection today before I buy a new one.
It may not be the electrical 'plu-in'. I had to take the CPS out of the block and put vasoline along the outer (not inside the block) side of the CPS unit to make a good seal. This sealed the unit from letting moisture in. Mine used to die (dead) 'on the fly', but once I was able to stop the truck, it would always start back up. (splashing too much water on the unit, I guess)
I got the same letter from ford yesterday... anyone have a dead ford cps i could have... im thinking about taking them a spent one and getting a spare one for my glovebox... mostly because i know thw horror stories of the grey ones
I took my 3 letters and went to a rural small ford dealership while I was passing through today. I took an old one that the O ring had flattenned out on the side up there. The grey one they gave me seems to be a smaller diameter on the bottom and has a blue o ring. ( I had (have) a leak on the lower half of my engine and thought the CPS maybe was seeping, when I pulled it out the O ring on that one was swelled up and wouldn't go back in, put the older one back in and batteries are now dead dying, 4 yrs old. Was a great evening... so I went to get the new CPS today, hey it was free. I will see what happens.
