Ford CPS Recall...?

Yesterday i got the letter in the mail from ford about coming in for the CPS recall. I have been reading on here that a lot of people have problems with the new one. I really don't want to do it, why fix something that isn't broken. Will they give it to me and i could keep it as a spare or do they have to put it in the truck? Or should i just have them do it? What do y'all think?

I'm going to do the same thing. I have my letter in the truck. I want the "new" CPS in my glove box not in the truck.

That's funny, I got the letter yesterday as well. I won't be taking it in though.

I already tried to take it in to see if they would give me the new cps to keep in the truck and they told me that they could not do that because when they put the new one in from Ford they have to send the old one back in order for the dealership to be credited for it. So

It seems that every dealship is different. Others have seen them in the trash at the dealership. Some have had them handed to them. There are Ford dealer's around me. When I am able to get around I'll see what they will do.

I will not take mine in.. I can not tell you how many threads I have read that their recall cost them money.. I believe there was one just posted with in the last 2 weeks. " recall cost me 2000".. I will see if I can find it. But if there is going to be a problem when I put the CPS in.. it will be my problem.. Not a chance for them to quote some work..

BS. My recall CPS is in the sealed bag from Ford in my glove box. I would not let them put it in the motor, if they won't give you the part in the bag just walk out. You could ask them to submit your VIN and close the recall for your rig if you wanted also so you don't keep getting letters.

Just called my local dealer about it and they said breing it in anytime that it will take approx. 90 minutes to complete and no it doesn't cost me anything. Where is the CPS located on a 2000 7.3L?

90 minutes? Try 10!!! Don't bother taking it in to that dealer... what a crock.
CPS is on the front of the motor, to the left of the crank pulley. It's the only sensor anywhere in that neighborhood.
