1996 F250 351W Mass Air Flow Conversion Kit

Help:
I built a windsor for my son's F250 and installed a Comp Thumper cam. Problem is that now the vacuum is not right for the old MAPP / speed density system. Where can I buy a kit to convert it to a Mass Air Flow system?

Thanks.

what tranny do you have? this will determine if going mass air is cost effective or not.

that cam isnt the best cam for that motor/truck anyway. that being a roller cam block there are some cams that will give better performance and allow you to stay with the stock efi system.

You can buy the kit from summit. If you have an E4OD tranny you'll also need an aftermarket control box for this tranny as the FMS computer is a manual tranny comp from a mustang(or similar). I used a box from Bauman for my swap. It was easy to install. They will also build you a custom shift program(on a CD after getting your vehicle specs) for your vehicle after you purchase the control box and you can install it with a laptop. There are some really nice features.

going with the summit kit and the bauman kit figure $1500+ vs changing to the proper roller cam with a lob seperation of 114*. that thumper cam isnt a good efi cam.

+1. Just get a Crane 444232 flat tappet or Comp 35-349-8 roller depending what the motor is currently using, at most you're gonna spend $250 to make it run smoothly.

exactly what Conanski said. mass air isnt all its cracked up to be. speed density if coupled with the right parts will perform great and make great power. if your really after gobs and gobs of power even going mass air would still require additional tuning. its not necesarily a cure all system. SD can be used and run 300hp/400trq if done properly on a 5.8.

We are just trying to save you some cash and headaches.

A cam and full exhaust system will produce a little under 300hp on an SD5.8.. no building necessary.
