Lift the rear of the truck on jack stands and block the front wheels put the truck in netrual, inside the rear wheels there is a oval rubber dust cover that needs to be removed to access the star wheel, spin the tire by hand to get an idea of how far it should rotate with no brake drag.Tighten that until you can no longer spin the tire then back it off a few clicks,be sure it doesn't drag or it will cause unwanted heat and wear, repeat on the other one then set the brake to test it,if all seems well drop the rear end and test. You might have to adjust one or both to get it where you want.
I really need to do this, I'm almost making a dent in my floorpan when I set my E-brake. Aren't they supposed to self adjust? I remember my dad's E-brake was loose like mine for a long time and then all of a sudden it tightened up and the peddle only goes down halfway now. It must have self adjusted finally as it works great now.
You guys are lucky! My parking brake just pops out as soon as i let my foot off, clickclickclickclick is all i hear and then i start rolling. i got a couple of chock blocks to help on steep grades where the tranny wont hold.
Sounds like you need a new e-brake mechanism, your teeth are shot.
