I went to my exhaust shop and finally got my MBRP dual kit on today. It sounds amazing and looks even better. My trusted exhaust guy at my exhaust shop said the he could not remove the cat and put in my delete pipe that I had for the system because of federal laws. He also said that it made nearly no difference in the exhaust sound other than a slightly louder turbo sound and a few lower EGTs. I figured no big deal, I'll just toss it on myself. The truck sounds great so I'm not sure I even care about the delete pipe now. Are there any REAL advantages to the delete pipe? I know it'll make the turbo a little louder, but will it make the exhaust itself louder (not just the turbo). Is it worth the hassle and the possible large fines? I know this has question has been beat to death, but I want some real world answers.
Between the possible warranty issues, the inspections issues, and the possible large fine I'm not sure it's really worth it. I don't want to have to put the cat on everytime i want to bring the truck somewhere to get worked on or bring it in for inspections. They don't do emissions testing in my state, but I'm sure they check to make sure it has a cat. So there really has to be a major increase in sound for me to really want to due this. The muffler delete made it sound amazing by the way. I suggest it to everyone.
