Im not looking for performance gains or anything. I seen a video on youtube of a guy on another forum and his is a 04 with the rear two cats deleted and it sounds nice. There are alot of trucks around me that are louder. My buddy just put stacks on his diesel truck and it has no muffler and he said that thing is ungodly loud. Went past 3 cops and they didnt bother him.

I know its illegal thats why this is up in the air. But I dont think its going to be ungodly loud. I think its going to be just right. I dont see it being a problem since there are kids around town that drive with just straight pipes and no cats. Shouldnt be a problem. My buddy had an old dakota with cherry bombs on it and that thing was loud. Never had a problem and he took it down to the city alot.

Your not going to get pulled over and fined or impounded or anything! Your vehicle will run fine and not throw any codes because like you said it's behind the O2 sensor. You might even save a few bucks in gas via it being a tad bit freer flowing but I doubt you will notice. If a cop really wanted to hammer you with an extra fine because you wher doing something really stupid maybe he could. But deff not in ur case because your taking out the internals and leaving the shell. I'm doing it to my truck tomorrow morning. But I'm deleting the back 2 completely

I would think that after 3 1/2 years (this thread was started back in August of '09 ) that the OP, if he still has the truck, would already know the results of removing the cats.

You would be correct but I'm giving my knowledge/input to anyone else who reads this thread looking with the same question as he.

That's always a great reason to thread mine and bring one back to the top.

I didn't read your post that way, that's why I was ribbing you a little bit with the eek smilie! so thanks for clarifying.

Welcome to FTE, BTW!

Yes......going back to the 70's I personally recieved a notice of intent for my own vehicle based upon smoke out the pipe....that is one of the reasons they have "Federal referee Smog test Stations"....if you change engines and it wasn't one of the oem offerings for that vehicle, you now have to go to a fed ref station for an evaluation- they can also red-tag on the spot...while they cannot impound, they can prohibit you from driving it off the lot 9tow only) and it is automatically logged in each states DMV system- your registration is suspended.
