Throttle body question

I have a question about the throttle body in these trucks. I was installing my K&N MAI in my truck and I noticed that the throttle body doesnt close all the way. the valve doesnt close all the way, it has a space around the top and bottum of it. All the other throttle body's I have seen the valve has been completely closed. Is that normal or do i have a defective throttle body? Would this cause bad gas millage?

Thanks

If It is drive by wire it has a default that holds it open a bit . Is your truck drive by wire? Electronic TB ? If using an oil bath filter , DO NOT over oil it , that will cause problems .

Totally normal , engine off for the throttle to be partially open . It is spring loaded aginst the electric motor .Nothing to worry about . That is the default position . In case of failure the engine will still run , allowing you to still have power steering and brakes , and hopefully limp to the side of the road .
