True dual exhaust and catalytic converter?

Here is what I am contemplating. The cat went bad on my '01 V10. I checked with a Ford dealership and found out that a replacement would cost $1300. I don't think so! As a temporary fix I removed the cat and put in a piece of straight pipe. What I want to do and what was also recommended to me by a performance shop is run a hi-flo cat off of each side of the engine and run a true dual exhaust. I plan on getting two Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow mufflers and two high flow cats. Any suggestions on hi-flo cats and is anyone running a setup similar to this and should an H-pipe be factored in?

Certainly add an h-pipe.With my duals, for a week i had no h-pipe and could tell something was not right, well I went back and had them put one on there and it was like night and day! Smoothed out the exhaust note and a noticeable increase in low end trq.Check out my two gallerys for a look-see.I personally like magnaflows since they are a straight thru design. Also you need to make sure where you mount the converters as far as heat is concerned.Keep the transmission shielded.

I looked at your gallery and have a couple of questions. Are both tailpipes running out the passenger side and are you running any cats. I was thinking about running both tailpipes in front of passenger rear tire but wasn't sure how it would look. Another reason for wanting to do that is that it would cost a whole lot less because of not using near as much pipe.

NO! I have more.

ps In fact i can lug around with a trailer loaded with 4 wheelers and other stuff @ 1800 rpms with out the trans downshifting.Pulls good below 2000 rpms.At 3000 rpms it really comes alive till about 52-5300.At the lower rpms it has a very deep sound which is what most folks are looking for.

They do (80,000 miles), but the Ford dealer told me that since I have modified the vehicle, it is no longer covered.

You are about the only user that I can find that is running a true dual setup. What diameter inlet/outlet muffler are you using and are you using the regular FM 40 series muffler or the Delta flow series?
