Pulled the bed off my '79 b/c it was ate up been hunting for months for a new bed. I was told that 74-79 would fit. Finally came across a good shape bed off a '75 but not, I'm being told body lines won't match and it will look like crap. Is this true? Should I hold out or?? What is your guys opinions?
Body lines from 73 to 79 are the same. Wheelbase, mounting holes, and fuel doors or openings are different.

Is there a chance I will have to drill some new holes?
Only if the donoe bed (75) is from a 4x4 truck, then you will have to drill new holes to accomodate you wider frame. If it has come from a 2wd truck then you are fine.
Did you read or follow that link that I had provided? It answers these questions and even tells you about the differences in the fuel doors, or lack therof. Your later model bed will be different in this area. You might want to check it out. Just click on the blue link and it will take you to all of the answers.

The inside of the beds are essentially the same, so you could put 73-79 bedsides on a newer bed.
