my 79 f250 has a 80s ford bed on it. i found a bed at the yard, but its on a 75 or 77 f100, would that bed be able to go on my truck? they are both 8 foot beds, i just need to know how far back in years can i go to find a good bed.

That bed you've found should go right on to your truck with no problems, except may be gas tanks & fillers.
ie:if your truck has one tank in the rear & the replacement bed has filler locations for two you'll need to either block/fill the not needed opening or grab the extra tank & install in your truck.
An 8' bed for your '77 can be gotten from '73 to '79.

73-79.... the 77-79 have door over the fill cap if you like that better. the 67-72 frames are shorter by a couple of inches that were added by lengthening the 73-79 cabs. They also wouldn't have matching body lines. 73-79
