Dont have a pic but I think someone will know what I am taking about. Was looking at my front bumper valance last night and was wondering what the divet or knock out hole in the centre was used for.Its dead centre of the panel just under the middle tooth. Its 52.

except I dont think any of the 49 and up flathead V8s had the spur or hand crank teeth on the end of the crank? all of the one's ive seen just have a bolt.
I wonder if you could install one from off an earlier flathead so you could actually use a handcrank, just in case you ever needed it? wonder how hard that would be to crank anyway? would probably be easier to just push your truck and pop start it anyway??
They are not difficult to crank since they have no compression. I have started my 46 Merc just for S and grins and it was no issue to get it to crank over and started in first cyl to come up. They are like the old Harleys, the first time they come up to compression and fire they need to start or you need to fix the reason they don't. I agree if possible would be a lot easier to push start it than crank it.
Just a silly question and not doubting the hand crank thing, but is it also possible that the hole is there to allow a shaft to extend out from the pulley that might run some piece of optional auxiliary gear such as a winch, etc?
Wish to adjust valves of my F1 Roouge 229 6cil and tought that the hand crank would be the easier way to move the pistons. Any other way? How to get a hand crank for it or ?

i posted a reply to your other post about adjusting valves. I used the crank hole to insert a socket onto the crankshaft bolt. I used multiple extensions to reach the bolt and it worked great..
