Newbee here,
Can anyone tell me the differance between the regular and flex 3.0 head or have pics. I am replacing mine and Im not sure that the shop I bought them from gave me the right ones...
The 3.0L FFV injectors are a different size then the regular gasoline injectors.
Aside from the injector size, the differences between a 3.0L FFV and regular gasoline 3.0L Ranger lie in the fuel delivery system and PCM operating strategy, both of which are not a part of the engine itself.
The reason I question the heads is because I found this article in Engine builder. http://www.enginebuildermag.com/Arti...rd_30l_v6.aspx
On the right of the screen there are pictures. Scroll down to the eleventh one and click on it.
The FFV 3.0L that Ford put in it's vehicles and sold to the general public does not use methanol; instead it's designed for ethanol use. The heads are the same between an ethanol-based FFV and the regular gasoline version.
As for the methanol 3.0L heads, I was not aware of the differences that you have pointed out, but then again, I've never seen a methanol 3.0L or even heard of one being discussed on any of the Ranger forums.
If anyone can find these heads with the casting mark of F6DE-EB, these are supposed to be the "Methanol" heads, what the difference is I do not know, I have been going through this head identification thing myself, have a 99 ganger flex fuel and am replacing the engine with a reman, and it has one head from 86-91 and the other head is from 96-00,,,,,,,anyone have a picture on this elusive "meth-head"
