go to autozone.com they have links to repair guides, or try the ranger station under tech support.

There are threads in the "Tech Info" thread atop this forum with photos & other details on the 3.0L that are a good reference.

Here's the install the bolts sequence from the 1999 Ranger Service Manual.

Install the bolts. Tighten the bolts in five stages in the sequence shown.
1. Stage 1: Tighten to 50Nm (37 lb-ft).
2. Stage 2: Losen the bolts one full turn.
3. Stage 3: Tighten to 30Nm (22 lb=ft).
4. Stage 4: Rotate 90 degrees.
5. Stage 5: Rotate an additional 90 degrees.

and there's a illustration of the sequence, there are 8 bolts, four across the top and 4 across the bottom.
1 is the third from the front on the bottom.
2 is the 2nd from the front on the top.
3 is the 2nd from the front on the bottom.
4 is the third from the front on the top.
5 is the 4th from the front on the bottom
6 is the 4th from the front on the top.
7 is the front bolt on the bottom.
8 is the front bolt on the top.

Good Luck and Happy New Year.
