99 ranger 3.0 head removal

I was wondering if it was possible to remove the head on the passenger side, with out removing the intake manifold.


1999 Ford Ranger 4x4 3.0 flex fuel automatic

I think it can be done, but it is difficult to get all the gasket surfaces clean, and difficult to get the intake manifold gaskets placed properly. I do not think the locating dowels pose a problem. If you look at it from one point of view, all you save is about a half dozen bolts removal. You also have to consider torquing the intake to the heads, sequence of tightening, etc.

I was thinking that by loosening on side of the aluminum intake it might crack. That was what I worried about
