Ok Finally gonna start puting in the shift kit this next week in my 99 f250 7.3L I am really nervous about it cause I don't want to f anything up. Well the main reason I am writing is because I don't know what to drill the holes for? Some people are saying to drill them for the V10 and not the Diesel? And I was also wondering if I will need to buy any gaskets or filters or any other parts to do this job that ain't in the kit? And if there is any other pointers that will make this work better please tell me! Thanks
Another question, I just watched the video on the transGo Web site, and they didn't show or talk anything about drilling the holes and all that stuff! What does that part do? And they also made it seem like you should have go the gaskets with the kit. But i didn't get no gaskets i only got a steel plate.
Mike and Izzy both did execellent writeups for the transgo install. Your trans pan gasket is re-useable, and it would be a good time to change your filter. If you don't want to flush your trans you will need about 8 quarts of merc 5. If you do flush it, get 18-20 quarts. The install is really alot simpler than it looks. I'll see if I can find Mike's write up.
Here is Joe's writeup. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...l-install.html
Also, I probably would not pull the trans solenoid pack. I haven't heard of one in a superduty that needed to be drilled.
Thanks Joe. My mind is still a blurr from RRE.

No gasket is required on the separator plate. Just deburr the holes after drilling them. You can do this with a larger sharp bit and twisting it by hand. This will remove the raised burr and not enlarge the hole. The hole acts as a restriction and the larger the hole, the firmer the shift. Start small and work up, if you think you might get too carried away. You can't drill a hole smaller. I used the holes for the 6 cyl/low stall diesel, but I have a modded rebuilt trans. Others will chime in on what size they started out with.
