C6 shift kit
C6 shift kit
I am thinking of putting a shift kit into my c6. I'm installing it onto a 351w with a mild build.
The truck will be a cruiser and joyride truck, but I want to make it fun to drive.
Oh yeah, the engine and tranny will be in a 47 pickup if that matters.
A few questions:
Will the shift kit shorten or prolong the life of the tranny in any way?
I want to know when it shifts, but don't necessarily need it to be the hardest shifter in the world. Any recommendations on specific kits?
Is this an upgrade you all think is worth it? Stupid?

Here's the kit I used.

I used the stage 1 kit with the optional firmer shifts spring. Shifts very nice and clean. Around town it shifts like a stocker, but cleaner and the more you step on it the firmer it shifts. Downshifts are nice and clean as well. Make sure to look at the code on your transmission servo cover and buy a new servo piston as well. Most are a molded rubber piece and are about $15. D codes and a couple others just use an aluminum piston and two O-Rings. Mine is an N code molded rubber piston and after 231,000 miles the sealing surface was worn off and the remains were sitting in the piston's bore, as well as it was hard as a rock.
