What he was meaning is to protect what ever is in the bed.
I have seen a couple lunch boxes, a water cooler and a few tool boxes ruined when they slid against the stacks or cross over pipes.
Also saw a couple bales of straw smoldering after they slid up against the cross over pipe.
They get rather hot while running down the road.
Pull a big hill with a load, don't even think about touching them for a while, 7 or 8 hundred degrees will fry skin instantly.
what if you rapped the stacks with some header rap?
Damn that might be easier than gatting the Y fabbed! hahaha
yeah i though of doing that but i dont want to run without any mufflers and it will cost more. plus i dont want diesel fumes comming in my cab every time i have the window down or open the door.
Getting the true duals around the front fuel tank is going to take some serious bends unless you go under the frame.
That is not an option if you go off road much.
Well some of my off road is a bit more than most people do though.
The way they did the duals on my old man's 84 was to run the driver side pipe beside the passenger side pipe, both on the passenger side, and outlets before the wheel. It had pretty good clearance that way.
i got 5" stacks on my 08 cummins we ran one 5" pipe through the bed floor and did the cross over and y in the bed! works awesome and sounds awesome! but my ford sounds like **** wit no muffler! i might get one of those thin magnaflow diesel mufflers and do the new y and 3" all the way out!

thats not even a bad idea d young but would take away from the appearance.. i was thinkin a 90 degree bend made of diamond plate. I had about 14 pvc tables in my bed took one decent curve and when i got to where i was going the table was melted to my stack
kind of depends on what you are hauling but if you fabbed up a bracket system that let you put crossmembers across the bed about three to six inches in front of the pipes it would keep the "load" from being destroyed. Then when done hauling you could just take the crossmembers off and store them under the seat or in the bed etc etc.

well i ended up gettin the full dynomax exhaust system! it is a new 3" y back to a 4" muffler into a 5" tip! all almunized! it should be sweet! it will be here this week i will let yahs know! hahah
