well i am getting it done sat. should i take the cat off and dummy duals out the rear or should i leave the cat on and dummy duals out the rear. Which is louder which would sound better. Will there be any popping and crackling if i leave the cat on. thanks
Kill the cat. Hurl it at a passing Duramax. Basically, kill 2 useless hunks of metal in one motion. It'll be MUCH louder, and sound much better without the cat. You'll have beautiful crackle when you slow down . With the cat on and fully functional, you'd get very limited sound and no crackle .
i got my exhaust done to day. i only have one cat so i left it on then after that split it with no mufflers and had big tips put on. it sounds very good with a fair amount of crackle and pop. It could be slightly louder but it sounds great how it is. i paid 159 for the pipe labor tips. is that a good price? thanks for any help
i want to straight pipe my truck, but i have no idea where to start, i know it will sound louder and be better. I dont know how to weld, is that a neccessity??. I want to have duals, and over all just a really loud truck. How much would and operation like this cost?
anyone who could tell me anything would be awsome
You may be able to get a universal exhaust kit from Summitt or Jegs that uses clamps(usually around a $100). I would recommend checking around your town and getting estimates. As mentioned a couple times around here the small shops will usually give you a better deal. But to give you an idea I had 2.5" pipe aluminized and turbo mufflers with nice tips done for $180, it has been two years and nothing has began to rust. Again it will be up to you and the shops in your area as to how much it will cost. Good luck.
